Use of Seesaw
Seesaw was purchased by CNES to develop children’s profiles and for sharing children’s learning with parents.
It is our intention that seesaw will be used as our main learning profiling platform, where pupils can share their learning, targets and progress, as well as celebrate their successes and achievements. To ensure that seesaw is being used effectively, here are some useful tips:
Seesaw will be used to:
- Share progress and discuss day to day learning
- Share communication about whole class learning
- Share learning targets
- Celebrate personal and wider achievements
Seesaw will not be used for:
- Whole school messages such as parental updates, Christmas shows, etc. – These will be issued via groupcall email.
- As a means of communicating pastoral matters or concerns e.g. if a child is upset, feels bullied, has injured themselves, lost items or if a parent has concerns about their child’s learning. These should be communicated to the school through the school office, either by phone or email.
- Evening or weekend messaging. Many of teachers work after school hours; however, they are not obliged to respond to messages in the evenings or at weekends.
Online Security – what to consider:
Seesaw has a thoroughly robust privacy policy (https://web.seesaw.me/privacy) and has committed never to share your child’s personal information or journal content. It is compliant with the most recent GDPR legislation.
Seesaw is a secure learning journal; which parents have access to. It is simply a case of downloading the app to a phone or tablet and inputting a unique code supplied by the school. You will then be sent notifications each time your child adds something to their journal. Seesaw journals are private. Each parent will only be able to see their own child’s journal. Parents may, if they wish, invite up to 10 family members who will also receive notifications when items have been added to your child’s journal.
Seesaw recommend that you refresh your web browser and if using Seesaw on a mobile device, you should update your device with the latest app version (version 8.1.2) and re-launch Seesaw or close and re-open the Seesaw app.
If you have any technical issues with Seesaw, please email or phone the school office.
